Shirley Taylor Moore
Dramatic Soprano

Dramatic soprano, Shirley Taylor-Moore is known to many in the Washington metropolitan area. Some of her local performances include The Renwick Gallery, numerous appearances at the Charles Sumner Museum, the Arts Club of Washington, and the Westminster Noontime Concert Series. Her performance at the Museum for Women in the Arts was part of its inaugural season and featured original works of Washington pianist, Ruth Norman. She has also been a featured artist on Classics of Ebony, WGTS-FM. In addition Ms. Taylor-Moore has sung on the Music at Trinity Concert Series in New york City and at the United Nations. She has also appeared in concert in Urbania and Sant'Angelo in Vado, Italy. Her operatic performances include the role of Desdemona in Verdi's Otello and the title role in Puccini's Tosca. She has appeared in numerous excerpt presentations from various operas, as Magda in The Consul, Donna Anna in Don Giovanni, Elektra in Idomeneo to name a few. In recent years she has become known for her interpretation of several Verdi heroines, namely Leonora in Il Trovatore, Leonora in La Forza del Destino Aida and Lady Macbeth,. Described as an �impressive classical musician� by GRP Records, NYC, Ms. Taylor-Moore premiered original compositions of her husband, Dr. William Howard Moore, pianist and composer. Most noted are Five Settings from Llanto Azul, poetry of Spain's Fernando Rielo. These songs were awarded an international First Prize by the Spanish Consulate and premiered in Canary Islands, Spain. One of Ms. Taylor-Moore's specialties includes the performance of classical vocal repertoire of African American composers.

Ms. Taylor-Moore teaches music at St. Albans School at the National Cathedral and also maintains a private voice studio.
